Nipun Gujarat Abhiyan 2026: Strengthening Foundational Literacy and Numeracy in Gujarat

The Nipun Gujarat Abhiyan 2026 is a major educational initiative launched by the Government of Gujarat to improve Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among children studying in Balvatika and Classes 1 to 5. The campaign follows the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission, ensuring that every child develops essential reading, writing, and basic mathematics skills at an early age.

The primary objective of the programme is to create a strong academic foundation during the initial years of schooling. Children who achieve foundational learning outcomes are better prepared for higher classes and lifelong learning. The campaign also promotes competency-based education, activity-based learning, and continuous assessment to improve classroom outcomes.

The implementation of Nipun Gujarat involves coordinated efforts by the School Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, GCERT, DIET, CRC, BRC, school teachers, and local communities. Schools are encouraged to prepare FLN Action Plans, monitor student progress regularly, and provide remedial support wherever required. Teachers receive professional guidance and training to adopt child-friendly teaching methods that make learning engaging and meaningful.

Parental participation is another important aspect of the campaign. Parents are encouraged to support children's reading habits, numeracy activities, and home-based learning. Community involvement through School Management Committees (SMCs) and local stakeholders further strengthens the implementation of FLN initiatives across Gujarat.

The campaign also introduces recognition programmes such as Nipun School, Nipun Parents, and Nipun Utsav to motivate schools, teachers, students, and communities. These initiatives encourage innovation, best teaching practices, and collaborative learning environments.

Monitoring and evaluation remain essential components of the programme. Regular assessment helps identify learning gaps, track progress, and ensure that every child reaches the expected learning outcomes. This systematic approach supports quality education and continuous improvement across primary schools.
