The Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training (GCERT), Gandhinagar has issued important guidelines for organizing the Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshan – Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2026-27 across Gujarat.
The exhibition is being organized with the objective of encouraging students to develop scientific thinking, creativity, innovation and practical problem-solving skills. The programme is based on the themes prescribed by NCERT, New Delhi for the academic year 2026-27.
Main Theme of the Exhibition
The main theme for 2026-27 is:
“Science, Technology, and Innovation for a Sustainable and Viksit Bharat”
The Gujarati interpretation given in the official circular focuses on science, technology and innovation for a sustainable and developed India.
Major Sub-Themes
Students can prepare their scientific models and projects around the following sub-themes:
1. Artificial Intelligence for Better Life
Projects based on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make everyday life better.
2. Mathematical Modelling and Computational Thinking
This area focuses on mathematical models, logical reasoning and computational thinking.
3. Green Energy & Environmental Conservation
Students can explore renewable energy, environmental protection and sustainable solutions.
4. Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
Projects can focus on health, cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation-related issues.
5. Indigenous Agricultural Practices
Students can showcase scientific ideas connected with traditional and indigenous agricultural practices.
6. Science for Rural Transformation
Scientific and technological ideas that can contribute to the development of rural areas.
7. Disaster Management
Innovative scientific approaches for preparedness, prevention and management of disasters.
One-Day Seminar Topics
The official guidelines also specify two topics for the one-day seminar:
- STEM for Climate Action
- Non-Communicable Diseases: Causes and Preventive Measures
Exhibition Levels
For the primary section, the exhibition will be organized progressively at the:
School → CRC → BRC/URC → District
levels.
For the secondary section covering Standards 9 to 12, the levels will be:
School → SVS → District
After the district-level exhibitions, Zone and State-level exhibitions will be organized. Standards 9 to 12 will be treated as one continuous unit for the purpose of the exhibition.

Important Schedule
According to the official guidelines, the exhibitions at different levels have specified completion periods.
- CRC Level: To be completed by 5 October 2026
- BRC/URC Level: To be completed by 5 December 2026
- District Level: To be completed by 10 December 2026
- Zone and State Levels: Schedule will be announced later.
The circular also states that the indicated periods may be adjusted according to local circumstances by the district coordination committee, while the specified deadlines for CRC, SVS and Block-level exhibitions and the District-level exhibition are to be maintained as mentioned in the guidelines.
Student Participation and Innovation
The exhibition provides students with an opportunity to transform classroom learning into practical scientific projects. Areas such as Artificial Intelligence, computational thinking, green energy, environmental conservation, health, agriculture, rural development and disaster management offer students a broad scope for developing innovative models.
Schools, CRCs, BRCs and SVSs have been requested to inform schools and encourage active participation in the Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshan.
Evaluation and Recognition
The evaluation of models will be carried out according to the evaluation criteria and framework provided in the NCERT guidelines. Two judges will be engaged for each section.
The guidelines also state that the focus should be on encouraging young scientists rather than emphasizing competition. Students are to receive equal certificates and encouragement awards such as mementos, books, educational kits or other appropriate prizes as per the guidelines.
